Elgin U.S. Buships “Canteen”
Details
Stainless steel brushed finish military diver by Elgin, made for the Bureau of Ships during WWII. These were an attempt to make reliable and tough watches for some selected Navy soldiers. The indexes and hands are packed with radium and the manual winding movement works fine like a Swiss tank!
Overall Condition:
The watch is in amazing conditions for its age and use. Note that there is a black on black writing right under the center: “US BUSHIPS” and also over: “ELGIN”. The white paint on blued hands is still intact and has assumed an ivory patina. The radium on numbers and small dots is still all there, with a burned colour.
